On February 13th, I applied as a cashier for Dollar General and CVS Pharmacy, both for Waynesboro and close to home so it was walking distance for me. For a while, I didn't apply for jobs because I wanted to focus on my last three classes while still in my BA, but after that the fear of having to get back out there and looking for a job, possibly getting the big NO is what troubled me the most. Though I didn't apply, I went to Books-A-Million to ask if they were hiring and the employee gave me the answer I really didn't want to hear. However it was the tone of her voice that really hurt me.
While I was in Maryland because of my grandma who had a major stroke, I received a call on the 22nd from the CVS manager in Staunton that he wanted me to come in for an interview on Friday since I wasn't able to do so that Wednesday. At first, I made the biggest mistake and told him that I couldn't work in that store location because of the fact that I don't have a license and that I chose the store in Waynesboro for a reason. My mom instantly told me call him back and tell him that I would come in.
That Friday, printed out two copies of my resume, though come to find out he already beat me to it. Better to be prepared. He told me to tell him about myself, my experiences and so on and when I mentioned that my dad was an assistant manager for CVS in Puerto Rico, he instantly was impressed. He also liked that though I am not fully fluent in Spanish, that I know enough to assist a customer whose primary language is Spanish. He asked me questions about certain situations that I may have dealt with in my previous jobs or even in college and I was able to answer them with ease. I was also asked about what I knew about CVS and once again, he was impressed that I know the mission and vision statements. While in my BA, I used CVS a few times in both team and individual assignments, so I knew plenty. We went over the salary, availability, and so on and he thanked me for coming in. The whole time, I felt at east and not intimidated. I was expecting to hear something at least a week after the interview, but four days later, I got a call asking if I was still interested in the job. Of course I said I was! The next day I received an offer email with my pay and start date.
I have not had a steady paying job since I was 18 years old. So I am excited to be getting back into the workforce and with a company I know I will enjoy. I am hoping that I am able to reach my goal through CVS. I know there will be challenges ahead. All points on employment are this way, but I am confident and determined to do what I have to in order to go up in the company.

I'm not dead
Hey guys! I know it has been forever since I have posted anything on here. I still do come on here and love and appreciate everyone else's work, but I haven't had the motivation or the time to post like I used to. A lot and I do mean A LOT has changed since I've been on here last. As my closest friends know who are on here, I moved to Virginia in October of 2015 to move in with the person I was in a relationship with at the time. Between going to school for my Masters degree and landing a job at CVS (which then became a full time job as well), I didn't really have the time to work on my stories that I know some here have been dying for me to update. During all of this, I was also trying to keep together my unfortunate abusive relationship I was currently in going through (though at the time I was in denial of any type of abuse happening). And no, he didn't abuse me physically it was mental and verbal. December of 2016, I was in an accident where I got hit by a van when I was walking
Unfortunate Changes
With 2018 already 13 days in I've already had to make a major decision in my life that while part of me is without a doubt over the top relieved, the other half is devastated. Around mid October, I was taking PSYCH 630 and I was wrongfully accused of plagiarizing my entire paper by my professor. I provided excellent proof that there was no way that I could have done so especially given the fact that I had rewrote the paper three times because she chose two days before the paper was due to post what she wanted in the paper, which then made the paper three days late. I showed her all of my rewrites and even that didn't do anything. That entire
Congratulations, Amber!
Amber, I have known you for seven years and have been able to see the countless wonderful creations you have posted. You have always been on of my favorite GMD artists and writers. I cannot wait see what other things you come up with. Congratulations, chiquita bonita.
Temporary Cancellation of Core Membership
Even though I don't really come on to dA as often as I used to, I was pretty excited about finally being able to sign up for the Core Membership. However that excitement has been short lived because I need to watch my earnings for a bit. Very few of you know, but on December 14th, I was involved in an accident that resulted in me being hit by a construction van as I was walking to work. I thankfully came out of it with only a fractured hand. There is a downside to the situation. Since I was in a state of shock and was discombobulated because the van hit me hard enough to slam me to the ground and have me hit my head on the ground that I did n
